WATER SCARCITY: Olumide's Foundation Donates Boreholes To Communities In Ogun

Non-governmental organization, Olumide and Stephanie Foundation, has constructed and donated three water projects to the people of Oke-Ago Owu Community, Saje, Lafanwa market in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.

The Chief Executive of the foundation, Hon. Olumide Aderinokun said the gesture was borne out of love and passion for the people of his community who has been lacking the availability of water againt their right to free water from the government.

Hon. Olumide said, "my foundation conducted a survey to know the urgent need of the people in Abeokuta, especially Oke-Ago Owu Community, Saje and Lafenwa market and it was gathered that lack of water was one of the major hardships on scale of evaluation, which necessitated the provision of the three boreholes in Abeokuta by my foundation".

"The people requested my intervention, which I did and my support has also been extended to education, hospitality and other areas of humanity in our bid to alleviate the needs of our people".

The Egba born politician cum philanthropist added that his various interventions have always been towards making life easier for the youths, pupils, widows and other vulnerable groups.

Commissioning the water projects, the Omogbademu of Owu Kingdom Hon. (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu commended Olumide's effort, saying the gesture was borne out of love and passion to address the age-long scacity of water in Abeokuta.

Adebutu said, the gesture was supposed to be the responsibility of local government chairman and other government appointees but since Olumide has decided to take it upon himself out of love for his people, he really deserves commendation because he has done well and proven humanity. He has really been doing a lot and the masses need people like him to represent them in government to serve them better.

Adebutu however promised to donate a transformer to Oke-Ago Owu community as part of his contribution to the development of the community to compliment Olamide's intervention in the local government.

Reacting to the gesture, the market men and women of Lafenwa trooped out joyously to appreciate the foundation for putting smile on their faces as they witnessed the commissioning, while the Market leader also commended Olumide for the donation, which is one of the major problem that the market has been facing from time past.

Other dignitaries in attendance during the commissioning were Hon. Sikirulai Ogundele, Olori Kabiesi Olowu, members of Council of OWU Kingdom Chiefs, Community leaders and Market leaders to mention but few.
