Dissolve OGSIEC over fake Time-Table, NNPP Tells Gov. Abiodun

....says the committee is incompetent

A leading opposition party in Ogun state, New Nigeria People's Party,  has called for the dissolution of the Ogun State Electoral Commission, OGSIEC over an alleged incompetence.

The state chairman of the  party, Olaposi Oginni while speaking with newsmen in Abeokuta urged the state governor, Dapo Abiodun to immediately dissolve the  electoral commission and elect competent citizens as the board.

Oginni's reaction is coming barely 24 hours after a purported Time-Table for the coming Local Government election in the state was reportedly released by OGSIEC.

However, the OGSIEC through its director of information and logistics, Mrs Adeyinka Musa Richard denied releasing any Time-Table as widely circulated.

Reacting to the development, the NNPP Chairman pointed out that the release of fake timetable and an alleged insensitivity of the electoral body warrant the need for dissolution.

He said, “ We are calling for total dissolution of this present OGSIEC, because they have started on a very wrong step. If an ordinary timetable is coming out as a fake, then, what fate do we have that we going to have a credible election?

“Osibodu-led OGSIEC have failed us, and they have now demonstrated that they lack the capacity to lead and direct such a sensitive organization like OGSIEC.

“Therefore, we are calling on governor  Abiodun  as a matter of urgency to dissolve this incompetent OGSIEC for lack of direction and sense of dignity.

“And we want Osibodu to come out to tell us and to deny that he was not the one that signed  because we saw his signature, clearly on that work.

“But if a very sensitive organization like OGSIEC is starting on a very fake news, then it shows that these people cannot give us credible election, and as a leader of opposition in Ogun State, we are calling for total dissolution and dispersement of the commission.

“We have more credible people in Ogun State.

“We have very good, erudite, electoral, and civil-effect people  that can lead the commission. So, we need to go back to the labor market to bring out somebody that is credible to lead OGSIEC”.
