Gov. Abiodun commissions Two projects in Ogun LG

The Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has commissioned two projects,  at lafenwa market Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State to improve the socioeconomic growth of the people, especially those at the grassroots level.

The governor, represented by the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Afolabi Afuape,disclosed this during the commissioning of Ultra Modern Shopping Complex  and a Borehole Project at Lafenwa market Abeokuta.

He said that local governments were to complement the efforts of the state government in the delivery of dividends of democracy to the people.

He expressed optimism that all the 20 LGAs would have more projects to showcase by the time his administration would be rounding off.

Abiodun maintained that the projects came at the time the people need it, saying that the Bore Hole Project will serve the people because it is what the people have been  clamouring to have for over period of time. 

"We want people orientated projects that would meet the needs of our people and that is exactly what we are doing.

Meanwhile, the transition caretaker chairman Abeokuta North Local Government Prince Tunde Tella has appreciated the governor of Ogun State for supporting the local government towards the commissioning of the projects.

He said that the success of the projects was as a result of the enabling environment created by  Prince Dapo abiodun.

Tella also thanked Comissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy affairs Hon. Moruf Afuape and his team for making the event a success.

He said "It's not as if we are making alot of money at the local government level, but once we have a target, we have to focus on the little that we have, we put it back to the community for the benefit of our people.

"Basically as a development communicator, I believe that development is different from beautification, if you want to develop the people you must ask for their needs, once they tell you this is what you need, then you will now go out to meet those needs.

"We promise intervention in all our markets, at lafenwa here in which is the biggest in the Local government and I called the babaloja and the people involved and they said they wanted a borehole, they gave us a place and we call our engineers to do the needful so we gave them what they ask for and they're happy about it.

"Within the next one month, we will be having about six other projects, courtesy the support being given to us by prince Dapo abiodun, 

"You will also realized that the hon. Comissioner of Chieftaincy affairs, Moruf Afuape, was talking about 70  projects being done by all the local government in Ogun State, mind you he was only talking about the comissionable projects.

"We have so many other projects that we did not comission but the comissionable project were 70. Here in Abeokuta North, we have about 15 projects or more that I have done in this Local government"

Also the Agura of  Gbagura, Oba Sabur Babajide Bakre said he was so happy to see the projects, saying that he never expected something like it.

He assured the market women that he will discuss with the chairman for the payment of the shop  installmentally so that it can be easy for them.

Also Iya Lode Alaba Lawson also  urged the council chairman to first  take care of the victims whose shop were destroyed.

She appreciated the local government boss for the construction of the borehole project, describing him as a welcome development.

Iyalode  therefore appealed to the market women to make use of the opportunity wisely.
