2021 World Bee Day : Ogun FRSC Supports Efficient movement Of Agricultural product


The Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) has expressed full support for Bee Business in Ogun State as to provide efficient movement of Agricultural product in the State.



The sector Commander in Ogun State  Ahmed Umar disclosed this in an event organized by the Apicultural Association of Ogun state (APASSOGS) in conjunction with the federal road safety Corps (FRSC) to commemorate the 2021 World Bee Day held at Oba Ademola road Ibara Abeokuta.


The Commander added that  FRSC and other security agencies allowed movement of Agricultural product and service providers.


He explained further that  routine patrols of FRSC give concession to vehicles conveying perishable agricultural produce.


"The crops regularly sensitizes haulers and traders of Agricultural produce on the safe transportation of these goods".


The Commander stated that Siun market along Abeokuta-sagamu Express way had been a major concern to FRSC Ogun State Command in which  product are displayed too close to the Expressway while vehicles sometimes off-load their content directly on the road. 


"This is common at the portion of the market along the Ogere Bypass of the Expressway. FRSC has since sensitized leaders of the market on the dangers of operating too close to the road.The command went further to recommend a total relocation of the market to Ogun State Ministry of commerce and Industry.


FRSC Boss said  Ogun State Command is proud to host this year's World Bee Day. 


"This attests to our full support for Bee Business in Ogun State. I wish to solicit for the training of interested FRSC personnel in Bee farming and production.


Meanwhile the Comissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State Dr Adeola Odedina ably represented by Mr  James oyesola  explained that one of the greatest advantage of bee is cross pollination and 60 percent of the food are insect pollination.


He said bees added  60percent or 70percent that pollinate the food we  eat and also  takes care of our eco -system and our services that we have. "So bee is very important"he submitted.


The guest lecturer of the occasion Professor Olusegun Lawal explained that the world bee day is just to create an awareness about the importance of bee significantly is all about what bee can do because generally what people knows is that it produce honey and they have more value than that and they are involve in pollination which are important  which have not be recognized from this part of the world.


 He maintained that the value that its been added as a pollinator is needed to be recognized .


"We need to plant more trees, vegetation plants  and for the well-being the importance of bee in our ecosystem makes it to be balanced.


"The pollinator are very good at pollinating they have their medicinal value as a goal and other products been produced like honey bee , and all these are been used both as a food and also for medicinal purposes .


"Even in Agriculture not in medicine therapy generally it boost the yield of your seed.


"Actually from developed world  there was a record that they are declining, that has not been established here we would know that small or less is happening , all the vegetation is been destroyed  now what we can do as an individual before the intervention of the government is that we really needs to create room for them and start planting even with our garden within your environment .

"Government can also establish a policy and that will really do it " he affairmed.
