Rural Community Stakeholders Food Systems Dialogue Kicks off In Ogun

It was a pleasure to declare open the  Rural Community Stakeholders Food Systems Dialogue today, 18th May 2021 at an event held at the Olu of Kobape's Palace,  Kobape Community, Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The United Nations in conjunction with the Federal Government and Ogun State IFAD-ASSISTED Value Chain Development Programme (VCDP) has mandated the dialogue to capture specifically Rural Community stakeholders, so as to ensure an all inclusive dialogue to create pathways to a nutritious and healthy food system in the country. The Stakeholders Food Systems Dialogue is a prelude to the convening of Food System Summit which would come up later in the year in Newyork and would go a long way in shaping National and International policy to drive the food system at large.

The Programme was held simultaneously in eight States in the Federation which also included Ogun State as one of the beneficiary State in the South-West .

Dignitaries at the event include; the National Programme Coordinator (VCDP), Mr Garba Bala, represented by Mr. Seriki Musa; the Permanent Secretary, Budget and National Planning Nigeria National Committee on Food and Nutrition, the National Programme Coordinator, IFAD / VCDP; the Olu of Kobape, Oba Johnson Olufemi Alani Taylor; representative of Ogun State Ministry of Budget and planning the Permanent Secretary Ogun State Ministry of Agriculture, farmers' group, Value Chain players and others.
