Mapoly Alumni Lauds Gov Abiodun, Solicits Support For Institution

The National leadership of the Alumni of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta (MAPOLY) has lauded the Governor of Ogun State , Prince Dapo Abiodun for  his prompt action on assumption of office, in reviving the Institution from its comatose state and also solicited more support towards the advancement of the institution.

The President of the Alumni , Pastor Emmanuel Obasanya disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Comissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State Dr. Adeola Odedina in his office oke-mosan Abeokuta on Wednesday.

Obasanya pleaded for government's support in the area of construction of the road leading to the Institution, constitution of Governing Council  and beefing up security for the school environment, assuring that the Association was ready to harness expertise of their members in the area of agriculture so as to contribute to the food supply and economy of the State.

His words "We understand the enormity of responsibility and projects the State Government under the able leadership of our Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR embarked upon across the State, hence we want to officially register our appreciation to him.

"We want to also register our appreciation to him for what he has done to the institution as we are aware that the institution was in comatose and immediately his administration came in, it was like number one priority to him and he quickly settled the dust.

“And today, the institution is stabilized such that we will continue to experience the necessary development that our School deserves”, he submitted.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Agriculture in Ogun State, Dr Adeola Odedina expressed delight at the various programmes embarked upon by the Alumni to ensure that the Institution retains the standard and legacy it is known for, submitting that the Institution is of great importance to the present administration and would not rest on its oars in order to provide the necessary developmental facilities for the Institution to produce the best quality of graduates.

He assured that part of the 200 hectares of land cleared for Anchor Borrowers' Programme would be allocated to the Association, as well as inputs and free advisory services for cultivation of cassava and maize.

“I want to place on record that Governor Dapo Abiodun MFR is serious about the progress of MAPOLY; in addition to rescusitating the institution in his first days in office, during one of our Executive meetings, His Excellency said, ‘go and do MAPOLY internal roads’, just like that, and it was done.

“As I speak to you, Governor Abiodun has approved a 200 hectares of farmland duly cleared for the benefit of Ojere Community under the Anchor Borrower’s program of which input and training will be provided by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

“With a good proposal, government can give 20 acres to the Alumni”, Odedina stated.
