NSCDC Promotes 607 officers In Ogun

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Ogun State has promoted 607 Corp officers, which is also part of its efforts
to encourage Nigerian Security operatives.

The NSCDC Commandant, Hammed Abodunrin made this known at the decoration ceremony of the 607 officers held at their permanent site  Kobape, Abeokuta Ogun State, on Monday.

According to the Commandant, the officers were  promoted to various ranks in which the highest is the Deputy Commandant of Corps (DCC).

Abodunrin further, explained that six  Deputy Commandant were decorated and 21 Assistant Commandant of Corps and others, also decorated.

According to him, getting them promoted will also changed their new role and responsibilities in the discharge of their duties.

"This is so significant because it's a form of motivation, we want them to do more so that they can get more promotion.

"This kind of service, it is when you are elevated that you are happy and this one is so unique that just in a single promotion excerise 607 senior officers were promoted.

"This also means that federal government realize what this officers have been doing . This is also unique because many of them will change their responsibilities because when you change your rank your status change and your responsibility changes.

"It's so significant that they have to do better than what they have been doing before because they are no longer in that their old rank.

Abodunrin, also made emphasis on security safety tips, adding that the best form of security is the one you provide for yourself and the worse form is the feelings that you are not secured.

"What we have also been doing is to educate the members of the public to upscale the whole effort pertaining to their personal security and the security of their environment.

"Even if it's to give appropriate information, all this hoodlums, criminal will not be able to have their way because they will know somebody is watching. When you give appropriate information, operatives will get there and process the information into intelligence .

"If anybody ask me what is the major challenge of insecurity in Nigeria I will say it's the unconsciousness of our people.

"Things would be happening within us we will not know, until it escalate , that is why the Commandant general has directed that we should be giving free public security education all around.

"We are going to train 3000 teachers in Ogun State they are going to go back and be giving the students security tips. It should be part of our culture that we should be cutious of our environment.

"We are going to do the training before the end of the term, we don't want  to disrupt their academic exercise because we are going to bring them from all schools and the training will be simultaneous, it won't last more than three days as we are going to develop a curriculum that we will give to each of them.

"This is going to be a extra curriculum activities and will be monitoring how the knowledge will be pass accross to the students" he affirmed.

In his own statement, the Special Adviser to Governor Dapo Abiodun on security Olusola Zubair encouraged the officers, stating  that it's a way of recognising the good work they have been been doing.

Zubair, also commended the newly promoted officers for the way they have been operating with other service Commandant in Ogun State.

He also urged them to do more because to whom much is given much is  expected.

"Anytime you're needed you are expected to be ready and answer the call" he submitted.

Meanwhile, a newly promoted officer, Mr Olaonipekun Adekunle Adio,  promoted from the rank of Assistant Commandant of Corp to the rank of Deputy Commandant of Corp said "I appreciate God , because one cannot be stagnant, one has to be moving forward, and at the same time, promotion in any government is requesting you to do more, it needs more responsibility and more loyalty to the nation.

"We sat for exams and we wrote three papers, and when the result came out I was very happy, because for the first time we were given the result.

"My advice to those that have been promoted like myself is that we should try and be able to do more , we should be a good ambassador of the Agency our state and Nigeria in general.

"For those that hasn't gotten promotion, they should not be discouraged, they should double their effort. Nobody is being denied  because is like a pyramid. We have certain number of people to be promoted, the minimum you can score is 60percent, If you score 59.99 no way, so they should do more in the next promotional exam and they should double their effort" he said.
