Eid-El-Kabir : NSCDC Deploys 2,855 Personnel In Ogun

In ensuring peace and safety during the Eid-el-Kabir Celebrations, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), has deployed no fewer than 2,855 security personnel in Ogun State.

The  State Commandant, Mr. Kolawole Taiwo, disclosed this in an interview with our correspondent in Abeokuta on Monday.

According to him , the personnel will cover Ogun State so that the citizens will enjoy the of Eid El Kabir celebrations.

He explained further that the personnel are to secure the important Eid grounds within the state capital as well as  divisional Commands all over the state.


The commandant added that centers where people relax after praying at various Eid grounds will also be secured.

His words" As one of our Core mandate, critical national assets and infrastructure are also taken care of because hoodlums can strike or vandalize critical national assets such as government properties at local, state and national level.These are well guided as people have been sent to these places.

"My intelligent department have been well trained to make sure that they secure the flashy areas of the state. Such as the flash point areas against activities of cultism and armed herdsmen who are always troubling our farmers because they usually move into Ogun State from the boundary areas of Oyo state. Our intelligent department have been able to make sure ensure that that is put in place.

"We collaborate with other security agencies in joint operations in forestalling violence.

"The Private Guard Companies (PGCs) have also been tremendously useful in volunteering information having been licensed, trained and also monitored by the Corps.

"And from time to time we settle disputes among these private security personnel so that they could always give an updated training to make sure that they can easily gather intelligence and a way of helping and managing the core mandate that we have such as supervising of the critical national assets, supervision of pipelines, because Ogun State has a long stretch of pipeline and then Ogun State happens to be a Gateway State.

"Activities at the border in terms of smuggling have also led to a  collaboration with our sisters agencies as the custom, immigration to make sure that our boaders are safe" he submitted.
