Nigerian actor Deyemi Okanlawon took to Instagram to commend two fans, @iamjoyessien and @l444nnu, for their efforts in promoting anti-piracy awareness within the Nollywood community.
In a thoughtful exchange, @iamjoyessien had considered watching a pirated version of Deyemi’s recent film due to financial constraints. But in a heartwarming gesture, @l444nnu stepped in, offering free tickets to five people to discourage piracy and support the industry.
Expressing his gratitude, Deyemi praised the fans for reigniting his faith in the community. He shared, “Nollywood producers, especially new filmmakers like myself and my amazing team at @bleedingartproduction, pour everything into creating stories that can reach global audiences. Yet, we receive almost no support from government or financial institutions, despite all the talk about creative industry funding.”
He continued, “@iamjoyessien, thank you for understanding, and @l444nnu, thank you for your kindness and support. You have no idea how much you’ve renewed my hope in our people! I am forever grateful.”
