In line with global best practices in road administration, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State command inaugurates the State Technical Working Group to allow for the deeper entrenchment of the ideals of road safety at the grassroots and ensure closer supervision of the execution of Nigeria Road Safety strategy.
Inaugurating the Technical Working group which has representatives from the state Ministries of Transportation, Budget , Planning, Education, Works, Information and Strategy, Health and NOA among others in Ogun state.
The State Deputy Governor, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, represented by the Commissioner for Transportation, Mr Gbenga Dairo, commended Federal Road Safety Corps for its vision.
The deputy governor reiterated the state government's commitment to ensuring the safety of all road users in the state through the provision of the well-planned system.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of FRSC, Ahmed Umar said the technical working group was expanded to accommodate all relevant stakeholders in the road safety value chain.
He emphasized on the importance of the meeting as it provides members an opportunity to get acquainted with the details of the assignment and the roles they are expected to play because it will help in actualizing the goals and program outline in the term of reference for the Technical working group.
He appreciated the group and enjoined them to work assiduously to ensure compliance with traffic rules, collaboration and cooperation with all organization to achieve a safer motoring environment.
Stakeholders in their reactions were of the view that full implementation of reports and recommendations of the group will go a along way in reducing deaths from road crashes in the state.
