The Chairman of the Party ,Yeye Olufunke Olanrewaju announced him as the consensus candidate after a unanimous decision by the members of the party executives.
The election which had the state party executives, Independent electoral commission ( INEC) on ground held its primary at the party secretariat Itoku, Abeokuta the State Capital.
In his acceptance speech, Sokunbi expressed satisfaction on the conduct of the exercise, saying he was happy with the election.
He said the committee has recommended that through consultations, consensus nomination will build the progress of the party
Sokunbi appreciated the Party executives, members for their support during and after the primary election.
He applauded the effort of the State Electoral Board, delegates, Party representatives from all wards.
His words" Giving this opportunity to serve as your Gubernatorial Candidate, I charge all to recognize the importance of the stability and unity of the party.
"Our mission is to increase standard living of our people and drastically remove abject poverty in the State by quick responses Programmes."
