NIMC Urges Residents To Register For National ID As pressure decreases

The National Identity Management Commission in Ogun State on Tuesday urged residents to register with the National Identity Card Management Commission (NIMC) because of its numerous benefits.

Oladele Lasisi the acting co-ordinator National Identity Management Commission in Ogun State said that it was in the best interest of residents to do so, just as it was good for data and financial planning.

Lasisi stated that it is important for the people not to wait until the federal government takes another punitive measure before doing the registration, noting that everybody deserves the benefit of it.

He disclosed this during a courtesy visit to the Alake of Egbaland, HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo at his residence, Ake Abeokuta.

Oladele maintained that the registration would enhance ease of doing a lot of things in the country.

He called on all Ogun State residents to register, saying there are many benefits attached to the registration.

The Co-ordinator stress that the commission is not satisfied with the number of people who enrolled for NIN adding that more people should do the registration.

According to him" Now that the
pressure is down , we expect people to come and do the registration that is why we are talking to the chiefs so they can educate and help us talk to their communities on the importance and relevance of NIN.

Oladele said any staff who collect money from the people will be dealt with by the management saying that NIN enrollment is free.

The Chairman of Alake regency Lateef Badaru appreciated the management of the National Identity Card Management Commission for bringing it's enrollment registration closer to the grassroot.

Dr Lateef Badaru, advised that it is important that the federal government include the NIN number with the National Population Commission to enable them to issue the NIN directly from birth.

His words"The federal government must include the issuance of NIN to everyone born in Nigeria as they always give the birth certificate, I want to advise that the NIMC collaborate with Nigeria Population Commission so they can work together".
