INEC had omitted the names of the party’s candidates in its final list of those eligible to contest the 2023 elections.
The ruling Judge, Justice Akintayo Aluko said since the primaries were conducted before the stipulated 90 days they were still within time and like every other candidate Labor Party should be allowed to participate in the forth coming election.
Monday Mawa, the state legal advisor to the party while congratulating the candidates,however noted that the governorship candidate is not part of the list but they are confident as they trust the court.
“At the end of day the court ruled in our behalf that as state chapter, since the matter was commenced by us, we have the right to prosecute the matter to conclusion and which is what we are all celebrating today. So I thank every member of Labor Party for keeping faith. And by God’s grace today, God has given us the victory and I know for sure that this victory will also translate to victory at the main election.
"For the record, the governorship candidate is not part of this one. The candidates that we got judgment for in this case are the national candidate, the house of representative and all the house of assembly candidates.
“His case is still in the court and he is doing it with his own lawyer. So it’s not part of the one we handled on behalf of the party.
Well of course we know they would come out smiling because from what transpired today, the court is a non-biased empire and they have nothing to to lose” he concluded.
Meanwhile, the just suspended chairman, Micheal Ashade, added “Our candidates are ready to prosecute their campaign without any distraction, without any disruption, without any stoppage. So whenever they are coming to town, please be ready to accept them because they are the team to win the forthcoming elections”.
