Create house of chiefs to solve insurgence Ogun Monarch Tells FG

The federal government has been called upon  to establish house of chiefs to end insurgency rocking the country.                                

 The call was made by the Onibudo of Ayetoro Budo Ota, Ogun state, Oba Adewunmi Adeniji Odutala during the festival of praise held at the palace of Onibudo.              

Oba Odutala emphasized that, the creation of house of chiefs through legislation would allow for more responsibilities and roles for traditional rulers in the country.                                      

Also, the monarch stressed that establishing house of chiefs would give constitutional roles for traditional rulers and serves as motivation by not only curtailing insecurity in their various domains but put them at advantage position  in complimenting efforts of the government for better security architecture.                 

Furthermore,Oba Odutala emphasized that traditional institutions have big roles to play in curtailing insecurity in the country but also  blamed the government for reducing the functions of the traditional rulers to mere ceremonial office.                   

The monarch boasted that not until government create roles for the traditional rulers in Nigeria"s constitution, the incessant security challenges facing the nation would remain unchecked.                             

Moreover, According to the monarch," the royal fathers have big roles to play. The government has made royal fathers ceremonial. Until we acknowledge the role of the royal fathers, Nigeria will continue to experience insecurity. We have no constitutional role, until the government respects the position of royal fathers and stop politicizing it, not until this is done, the security situation will continue to worsen.                                      

In addition, he stressed that "The government needs royal fathers to tackle insecurity. Please, give us house of chiefs, I am appealing to the government to give us house of chiefs so that we can be more responsible to complement efforts of the government", Oba Odutala added.                       

The monarch therefore prayed for the country for the success of next year general elections assuring that 2023 would be more peaceful and it  will herald new leadership into the country.
