The Acting Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Ogun and Lagos States, CP. Abiodun Alabi, alongside the State Commandant and the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State, CP. Frank Mba, mni, and other security agencies monitored the activities across the Ogun Central Senatorial Districts of the State to ensure calmness, orderliness and professionalism by all players.
Other security agencies and their service commanders also went to other parts of the State: the Ogun West and the Ogun East with deployments from other services too to oversee those areas.The NSCDC team was headed by a Commandant each from the Zone "F" Command.
The areas where challenges were reported by callers through the State Command's phone directory got immediate responses to handle the situation either from the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and/or security agencies to avert negative occurrences.
According to the State Commandant when responding to questions from the media, "The process has been very peaceful and everyone is conducting themselves in a peaceful manner. At the end of this first phase, we will be able to assess the challenges and make appropriate corrections in the next one", he noted.
"Meanwhile the responses and comportment of my men and indeed all other security agencies in this assignment are very commendable and professional. I will ensure that my men maintain the international best practices alongside other sister services in the State during and after the elections", he added.
"Also, it is my hope that we will have a more seamless process during the second phase come March 11 as this first one will accord all security agencies to do appraisals and find lasting solutions to skirmishes noticed in this earlier process", he concluded.
While the Nigerian Military were busy deterring illegal movements across the major roads in the State all into the morning of the next day, the other services in the State: Federal Road Safety Corps; the Nigerian Immigration Service; the Nigerian Correctional Service; the Nigerian Customs Service; the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency; the Defence Intelligence Agency; the Department of State Services; amongst others were busy monitoring the activities and comportment of voters in various polling units and areas across the State.
