This is coming after the Group of concerned party members under the umbrella of "THE PROGRESSIVES" had initiated several moves to broker peace among some party leadership and some party chieftains wagging political war against each another over the alleged anti-party activities.
According to one of the group, this act allegedly contributed to the woeful outing of the party during the just concluded general polls and as a result the ugly development had divided the state chapter of the party into two factions headed by the State Chairman of the party, Comrade Olaposi Oginni and the party Governorship Candidate, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo.
Secretary of the THE PROGRESSIVES, Hon. Damilare Abioro, in a statement issued at the end of the reconciliation meeting held between the two warring factions in Abeokuta, the state capital, which had Oginni in attendance while Ajadi was conspicuously absent from the meeting without any representative.
Abioro explained that there is need for party leadership and relevant stakeholders, especially the founder of the party and the Chairman Board of Trustee of the Party, Dr Boniface Aniebonam, and the Party’s Presidential candidate in the last general election, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, to quickly intervene in the crisis already eating deep into the fabric of the party.
The group secretary added that the party is already losing some of its members over the perception that NNPP is derailing in its vision and mission of a new Nigeria and new Ogun State with the crisis.
According to him, the aggrieved members, especially the candidates during the last election should embrace peace and withdraw their cases in court in order to stop wasting resources and energy on ligitations.
Abioro, however, assures that the THE PROGRESSIVES will continue to broker peace with all concerned individuals and groups and as well reach out to the party hierarchy in order to achieve peace and development in the party, especially in Ogun State.
THE PROGRESSIVES representatives during the meeting include Hon. Gboyega Idowu-Jai (Yewa South), Hon. Abiodun Ogungbe (Yewa North), Hon. Luyi Adeyemi (Imeko/Afon), Hon. Damilare Abioro (Ipokia), Hon Samuel Sogbeinde (Obafemi Owode), Hon. Dayo Adeogun (Ado-Odo/Ota), Hon Adebamiro Olukunle Nelson (Ijebu North), among others from various Local government areas in the State.
