The Chief Economic Adviser to the Governor, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, made this known while receiving the Executive Members of the Artisans Association of Nigeria (AAON), Ogun State, in Abeokuta.
Okubadejo noted that the MSME players are key contributors to the economy of any nation and a great employer of labour, and as such, they should be engaged actively to ensure that the dividends of democracy trickle down to the people of the State.
He added that since the inception of the Prince Dapo Abiodun administration, the government has embarked on several infrastructural projects aimed at revolutionising the economy of the state and engaged artisans on several projects, such as the refurbishment and construction of schools, health centres, and housing projects in different capacities.
Okubadejo, however, underscored the necessity for artisans to establish a self-regulatory mechanism and maintain a standard of service quality, as enforcing discipline in their work would instill confidence in their clients and showcase their capabilities.
In his remarks, Chairman of AAON, Mr. Anthony Ayodele, applauded the state government for consistently supporting the informal sector through contract awards to its members.
Ayodele emphasised the association's mission to foster unity among artisans, transcend ethnic boundaries, and promote their collective progress within Ogun State.
