The bill is titled - A Bill for a Law to Amend the Obas and Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council Law of Ogun State, 2021.
Speaking on the bill , the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jemili Akingbade (APC-Imeko Afon), said that the amendment of the bill had become necessary.
Akingbade spoke during plenary at the house of assembly complex in Abeokuta on Tuesday.
Akingbade explained that it would regulate the practice and conducts of all categories of monarchs and Chiefs in the state.
He noted that the amendment would bring more merits, saying that the peace and unity within the traditional institution was paramount.
In his response, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo (APC - Ifo1) commended the lawmaker for his remarks and thereafter committed the bill to the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs for further legislative actions.
