The Tribunal threw out the petition filed by the PDP Governorship candidate, Mr Ladi Adetubu,citing that the petitioner can’t prove that Governor Dapo Abiodun wasn’t duly elected on March 18 as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Acom Kayode Showunmi said the tribunal’s verdict was an affirmation of the trust reposed in the Governor by the citizen of the state as evidenced in the outcome of the election, having deliver on his promises made to the citizen of the state during his first term in office.
He described the judgment as sound, detailed and comprehensive, noting that the judges displayed unmatched courage in the discharge of their duties.
"It is heart warming that the tribunal judges did not succumb to intimidation by the opposition, who deployed various antics such as propaganda from the media to sway the judgement in their favour.
"The judgement is a further testament to the fact that the judiciary is the last hope of the masses and our people” showunmi said.
He thereafter called on the opposition to join hand with the State Governor led by Prince Dapo Abiodun and his team on his determination to deliver on his electoral promises with his Building Our Future Agenda.
