The Sector Commander, Anthony Uga, gave the warning during a special patrol operation within the Lagos-Ibadan expressway axis on Friday.
Uga explained that the essence of the operation was to enhance road safety during the festive season.
The sector commander emphasized the urgency of the operation, citing a distressing trend of excessive speed leading to increased road accidents within the expressway.
He said that the mobile speed patrol would be sustained throughout the yuletide season.
According to Uga, the impact of the ongoing patrol had already been significant, with a tremendous reduction in road crashes.
He added that the FRSC had planned to conduct a thorough analysis at the end of the operation, which would be made public to highlight its effectiveness.
Uga highlighted the role of the operation in addressing the attitudes of road users who mistakenly believed that improved road conditions justify excessive speed.
He maintained that the mobile speed patrol aimed to curb the excesses and enforce adherence to the rules within the jurisdiction of the FRSC.
“The punishment are there in line with the extant regulations of maintenance of FRSC establishment act 2007.
“Anybody that fault foul of it will be made to pay for it
in line with the extant rules and regulations guiding the conduct of FRSC,” he said.
He urged motorists to internalize the purpose of the operation, emphasizing the dangers of speeding.
