Yuletide: NSCDC deploys 2,740 personnel in Ogun

In order to ensure a hitch-free yuletide celebration, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ogun State Headquarters, Abeokuta, under the leadership of her State Commandant, David Idowu Ojelabi mni, has deployed a total of 2,740 officers and men across the 71 formations in the State.

The State Command through its head of operations will be monitoring other tactical units deployed to various parts of the State to enforce compliance and professionalism.

The counter-terrorist unit, the special female squad, the anti-vandal squad, agro-rangers unit, mines and steel development squad and the intelligence team are some of the squads deployed to maintain a peaceful and harmonious yuletide before, during and after  the celebration.

Other specialized units drafted for this operations include: the anti-human trafficking, irregular migration and gender unit, border patrol team, oil and gas and marine unit, disaster management department, safe school response squad, chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear unit, ten area commands and 60 divisional offices spanning the nooks and crannies of the Gateway State. 

The State Commandant has also instructed all Area commanders and Divisional Officers to work hand in hand with the monitoring teams while also ensuring adequate and professional engagement of their personnel across their various jurisdictions.

He assured the inhabitants of the State of adequate deployments to: mosques, churches, markets, viewing centres, red spots amongst other strategic locations in the State.

The State Commandant while addressing the press in Abeokuta, the State Capital, noted that the command will deploy all proactive measures to ensure adequate maintenance of law and other; crowd control; intelligence gathering on criminal activities; protection of critical national assets and infrastructure amongst other functions.

He also added that the command's personnel across the State will be working in collaboration and synergy with other sister security agencies to ensure adequate protection of lives and property in the State.

"I want to warn all criminally-minded individuals/groups to desist from coming into Ogun State as all security forces in the State won't allow any form of breach. He also warned all officers and men of the Corps to allow commitment, professionalism, vigilance and national interest be their watchword above all things", he added.
