Mrs. Ilori-Oduntan, who stated this during a familiarisation visit to the Agency at Ibara Housing Estate, Abeokuta, said the officers were representatives of government and hope of the rural dwellers in the provision of potable water towards ensuring hygienic environment.
She commended the Agency for the feat achieved recently, where Ikenne Local Government was declared Open Defecation Free (ODF), charging them to be proactive, transparent and accountable in the discharge of their duties.
On his part, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Engr. Sakirudeen Salaam, said officers should be diligent, stating that “government’s work is a chain which should not be broken to achieve the desired goal”.
Earlier, the Programme Manager, RUWATSAN, Mr. Sola Ogunbo said government was working assiduously to ensure potable water gets to all rural communities and make more local governments attain ODF status.
In a related development, Permanent Secretary Ministry of Rural Development, Engr. Salaam, who urged staffers of Ogun State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), to constantly ensure due diligence in executing and awarding contracts, added that provision of access roads would minimise post-harvest loss for farmers, admonishing management and staff to be dynamic in service delivery.
Speaking, Acting Project Coordinator, Engr. Waheed Adejumo, noted that the agency was abreast of challenges being encountered by farmers and had embarked on series of intervention programmes like, provision of modern storage facilities among others, to ensure food security, as well as the ongoing construction of 13.1km Ijanna Alapako road in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area.
