According to him, While I do not entirely support the idea of paying ransom for kidnapped victims, the government must first ensure efficient security services are put in place to guarantee better welfare & wellbeing of citizens.
"Similarly, Mr. Femi GBAJABIAMILA, the Chief of staff rooting through National Assembly to criminalize freedom of expression guaranteed by the constitution amounts to a draconian attempt to subject the good people of Nigeria to false imprisonment, denying them the most essential exercise of their inviolable rights to expression against obvious hardship, alleged corruption and other form of malfeasance.
"Chapter 4 and section 39 of the 1999 Constitution as amended guarantees freedom of expression, and this remains an inviolable rights known to other Human Rights Convention and spelt out in articles.
"The Chief of staff can therefore not criminalize our rights under any guise. Rather, the security of the country should enjoy better legislation and legislative attention.
"The people have a right to question prima facie allegation of corruption, and collectively raise voices through any legitimate means, including the social media.
"Other Human Rights Articles frown at such attempts to subject these rights. Such bills must be resisted, and vehemently opposed.
"It will not see the light. Three (3) months Jail term? C'mon! Except the content of the bill is not known or, clear in ambiguity. Let the people of Nigeria breathe under this administration," Faseesin said.
