2024 LISABI DAY : OLAJIDE FASHINA, THE NEW BALOGUN WORO OF OWU KINGDOM

In Abeokuta, the heart of Ogun State, the Egba people annually honour Lisabi Agbongbo-Akala, their legendary warrior and liberator, during a week-long celebration known as Lisabi Day. 

This festival commemorates Lisabi's role in freeing the Egba people from servitude under the Oloyo.

One of the festival's highlights is the 'woro' dance, where a chosen representative from different clans and families rides a horse, symbolizing the spirit of Lisabi. 

This year, Olajide Fashina, a seasoned real estate expert from the influential Latasu compound in Owu Kingdom, has been choosen as the 2024 Balogun Woro.

Fashina, CEO of Olageospatial Global Investment Company (OGIC), will be  riding a white horse from Latasu Compound in Owu to the Oke Ago Owu the Palace of Olowu of Owu Kingdom HRM  Saka Adeola Matemilola, and later pay homage to the Alake, the Paramount Ruler of Egba Land, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, seeking blessings for another successful Lisabi Day Festival.

Accompanied by his family, friends, colleagues, and associates, Fashina will embark on this ceremonial journey, starting from his family home Latasu, Owu in Abeokuta, where he will receive blessings from the family house .

This celebration not only honours Egba history and culture but also reflects the unity and pride of the Egba people in their heritage and achievements.

ABOUT THE NEW BALOGUN WORO OF OWU KINGDOM 

Olajide Fasina is a registered Surveyor and transformational Nigerian Entrepreneur who has driven impact across multiple industries and in various roles (Land Survey, Real Estate Retail & Development, Entertainment & Lifestyle & now Private Security Solutions).

He is a graduate of Surveying & Geo informatics from Enugu State University of Science & Technology, a registered member of the Abeokuta Sports Club. 

He has an MSc in Remote Sensing and Geographic Information System from Nnamdi Azikiwe University.

With over 15 years in the survey practice, Olajide Fasina has consulted in various capacities both at the State Ministries and private sector.

He is currently the MD/CEO of OGIC Ltd, a firm that offers top class products and services ranging from Real Estate Development and Retail, Civil Engineering and Building Construction, Project Management, Geo-spatial Analysis, Mapping and Private Security Solutions to it's clients.

Beyond his entrepreneurial acumen, he finds passion in creating and executing new orders in less privileged youths through his foundation, OGIC Foundation. With a commitment to create and implement new initiatives, the CEO continues to make significant contributions to the community.
