Kano Pillars, a prominent team in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), have unexpectedly parted ways with Coach Paul Offor just 19 days into his tenure. Offor, who previously managed Sporting Lagos, had recently taken over following the resignation of Abdul Maikaba.
The club announced the termination of Offor’s contract through a mutual agreement, citing a shared understanding between both parties. A statement from Kano Pillars read: “Kano Pillars Football Club announces the mutual termination of the contract with its Technical Adviser, Paul Offor. The decision was made in good faith and with mutual consent, underscoring a shared understanding between both parties.”
Alhaji Ali Muhammad Umar, Chairman of Kano Pillars FC, communicated the decision through the club’s Media Directorate. Offor, who joined under the previous board dissolved by the state government, was on a one-year contract.
Following Offor’s departure, Kano Pillars are now searching for a new technical adviser to lead the team in the upcoming 2024/25 NPFL season. The club stated, “As Kano Pillars FC looks forward, the club is set to appoint a new Technical Adviser to steer the team in the upcoming 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League season.”
The sudden termination of Offor’s contract has surprised many fans and is believed to be linked to a new management takeover and subsequent restructuring of the team. Offor, a UEFA License C holder, previously led Sporting Lagos to NPFL promotion within a year and secured the club’s first-ever trophy in the Naija Super 8.
