In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano State has secured the conviction of 22 drug dealers in July 2024. This milestone was announced by the NDLEA Kano State Commander, Mr. Abubakar Idris-Ahmad, during a press briefing on Thursday.
Idris-Ahmad highlighted the success as a major victory in the agency’s ongoing battle against illicit drug trafficking and abuse. He mentioned that among the convicted was Abubakar Mu’azu, whose arrest involved a dangerous confrontation that resulted in an NDLEA officer being stabbed. Mu’azu was subsequently charged and sentenced to three years in a correctional facility, while the other convicts received various prison terms.
“Various illicit substances were found in Mu’azu’s possession,” Idris-Ahmad stated.
The NDLEA commander reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to continuing its relentless fight against drug trafficking and abuse, ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
