Hardship Sparks Postponement of UNILAG Exams Amid Nationwide Protest-OXYGIST

The University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, has announced the postponement of its 2023/2024 second-semester exams due to a planned nationwide protest. This decision, aimed at ensuring the safety and security of the university community, was disclosed by Mrs. Adejoke Alaga-Ibraheem, Head of the Communication Unit, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lagos.

Originally scheduled for Thursday and Friday, the exams will now be rescheduled, with new dates to be announced soon. Mrs. Alaga-Ibraheem urged all students and staff to remain calm, vigilant, and security-conscious during this period.

"Safety and security measures have been put in place across all three campuses of the university," she assured. "We advise everyone to go about their legitimate activities and report any suspicious behavior to the security unit."

While the university acknowledges the right to peaceful assembly, Mrs. Alaga-Ibraheem emphasized the importance of maintaining civility and responsibility, both offline and online. "We urge our community members to stay safe and act responsibly in their communications and actions," she added.
