Italian football administrator Pietro Lo Monaco has voiced strong criticism regarding the handling of Victor Osimhen’s potential transfer from Napoli. The ongoing saga surrounding Osimhen’s future has become one of the most talked-about topics in European football.
Since the end of last season, Osimhen’s departure from Napoli has been a lingering issue, with interest from several top clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia. The Nigerian striker, who has been a standout performer for Napoli over the past three seasons, has caught the eye of major clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, PSG, and Al Ahli.
However, the prolonged transfer negotiations have been marred by challenges, either due to Osimhen’s personal demands or Napoli’s high asking price. The situation has sparked widespread debate in Italy, with football administrator Lo Monaco expressing his frustration over how events have unfolded. He criticized Osimhen for his absence from the team, stating, “The market sets the price, but it’s up to the president to decide whether to accept it or not. His (Osimhen’s) management has been a joke; it’s inconceivable that a player would refuse to play.”
With the transfer window set to close in less than 48 hours, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain. Despite ongoing speculation, it’s still unclear where he will end up, but much can still happen before the deadline strikes at 11:59 PM on August 30.
