Ahead of the November 16, 2024 Local Government elections in Ogun State, members of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Iperu Ward 3 and 5 in Ikenne local government have accused a Chieftain of the party, Armstrong Tope Akintunde of move to impose Councillorship Candidates in the two wards.

Some of the party members  accused Akintunde of storming Ward 3 and 5 with sum of 80,000 dollars in cash in a bid to impose Olaleye Olalekan Babatunde and Osularu Olabanjo Muyiwa as Councilors to represent the wards at the forthcoming LG elections in the state.

Speaking in a viral video obtained by this medium, Akintunde while addressing party members promised to give leaders and excos in both wards sum of one million naira each.

According to a member of the party in ward 5 who spoke with this medium under the condition of anonymity, said  Akintunde, an entrepreneur and Real Estate Developer has been threatening all other aspirants in the wards.

He said Akintunde has been brandishing around, challenging anyone to bring the kind of the money he came with. The source said Akintunde has been threatened that he would impose the two candidates successfully, saying he was doing that on the order of the governor.

"Akintunde claimed that he was sent by Governor Dapo Abiodun, saying he has been following the governor since the day of UNCP. He said he has done a lot of assignments for the Governor, adding that the governor cannot challenge him if he has Councillors to impose.

"He came to Iperu 3, Ward 3 and 5 in Iperu local government with 80,000 dollars in cash. The Governor Ward is Iperu 1, Ward 3. He insisted that he will impose the Councilors successfully, saying no one can stop him.

"He went to the Governor's ward and said he wants to give them N57,000 Naira but will pay in dollar. In Ward 5, he said he will spend  the 80,000 dollars . He came to flaunt the money. He said the governor knew him as a lavish spender.

"He did same thing last three years. He dragged a former councillor to court back then. The case went from the lower court to supreme court. That's unprecedented in Nigeria history.

"Meanwhile, the Governor pardon him for that. That shows the governor is aware of his activities. He is here again to start same thing. He shared dollars and motorcycle last three years also.

"It was after that he was given contract award at Oodua investment limited. He is now back to the town to oppress party members with the money.  He said he will be the one to impose candidates that he was sent by the governor. He challenged any aspirants with such money to compete
with his candidate.

" We want the governor to caution him and call him to order. He should not let such person tarnish his image."
