Veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo has voiced strong criticism towards Nigerians who are currently paying N1000 per litre for fuel, despite having protested against a much smaller increase years ago.
Okonkwo, who previously served as the spokesman for the Labour Party's presidential campaign council, highlighted the irony of the situation. He pointed out that the same people who are now enduring the steep fuel prices are those who once took to the streets to protest the hike to N140 per litre at Ojota.
The actor further noted the hypocrisy in the fact that the leaders of the 2012 protest, which occurred during the Jonathan administration, are now the ones responsible for the current surge in fuel prices to N1000 per litre. It’s worth remembering that one of the prominent figures in the 2012 protest was the current President, Bola Tinubu, who actively participated in the demonstrations against the fuel price increase."
