Nigerian activist Omoyele Sowore has joined the ongoing protest against hunger in Lagos State, as citizens mark Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.
Sowore, one of the key organizers of the protest, arrived at the demonstration site under the Ikeja Underbridge at approximately 8:50 am on Tuesday. Protesters had gathered in the same location earlier in the morning to voice their frustrations over rising hunger and economic challenges in the country.
The peaceful protest is being closely monitored by a significant presence of security forces, including police officers, members of the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps, and personnel from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps.
