“Big Decision Ahead” – Nigerian Striker Victor Boniface Linked to Manchester United Transfer Targets-OXYGIST

Super Eagles star and Bayer Leverkusen forward, Victor Okoh Boniface, has become the latest Nigerian talent linked to Manchester United, joining compatriot Ademola Lookman on the Red Devils’ radar.

Despite a three-month absence last season due to a thigh injury, Boniface played a pivotal role in Leverkusen's triumphs, contributing over 30 goal involvements as the team clinched the Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal. His brilliance continues this season, with eight goals across all competitions, even as he recovers from another thigh injury.

Sky Sports Germany’s Florian Plettenberg reports that Ruben Amorim, Manchester United’s manager, is keenly monitoring the 23-year-old Nigerian international. Boniface’s ability to deliver under pressure and his winning mentality have positioned him as a prime candidate for the Premier League giants' revamped transfer strategy.

Manchester United’s recent struggles are evident, with just four wins in 12 Premier League games and only 13 goals scored—matching relegation-threatened Ipswich Town. The lack of firepower up front has left the team floundering, prompting Amorim to seek reinforcements.

Current options like Rasmus Højlund show promise but lack the clinical edge of past United greats. Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford’s inconsistency and Joshua Zirkzee’s tendency to do everything but score have further highlighted the club’s need for a reliable striker.

Boniface’s track record in Germany and his ability to rise to big occasions make him a compelling option. However, the Nigerian striker has previously expressed reluctance to play in England, raising questions about his potential fit.

While Boniface remains an exciting prospect, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyökeres has also emerged as a strong contender. The Swedish striker, who has already scored 24 goals and provided four assists this season, has a proven relationship with Amorim from their time at Sporting. His familiarity with the manager’s tactics could make him a seamless addition to United’s roster.
