LG Election : Ohaneze Indigbo, Religious Leaders Endorse Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo for Abeokuta North Chair

As the campaign for Abeokuta North’s chairmanship race intensifies, the All Progressives Congress (APC) continues its house-to-house outreach, rallying key endorsements from religious leaders and Ohaneze Indigbo in the local government. 

On a recent visit on Tuesday , the APC Chairmanship candidate in the local government Lanre Oyegbola Sodipo, accompanied by party leaders met with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the League of Imams, and the Ohaneze Ndigbo, all of whom pledged support for the APC.

During the meeting, representatives from CAN in Abeokuta North urged Oyegbola Sodipo to prioritize inclusiveness and open-door governance. 

“We demand inclusiveness in government,” stated CAN leaders, emphasizing the need for representation and accessibility.

The League of Imams also expressed its support for Oyegbola Sodipo’s candidacy, offering prayers for his success in the upcoming election. The imams affirmed their endorsement, praying for a peaceful and successful outcome as the election approaches on Saturday, November 16.

Similarly, Chinedu Nwaecho, Chairman of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Abeokuta North, voiced strong support on behalf of the Igbo community.

The Chairman said “On election day, we will come out massively to cast our vote,” Nwaecho affirmed. “Not only that, when you resume office, we will support you throughout your tenure. We are not troublemakers. Be rest assured that we are with you,” he added, pledging the community’s loyalty and cooperation.

In response, Oyegbola Sodipo assured the Igbo community of an open and engaging administration if elected, promising to foster constant continuous engagement and conversation with community stakeholders.

Oyegbola therefore appealed for a significant turnout, urging voters to choose the APC.

 “We want to see this election marked by massive turnout, with votes for no other party but the APC,” he said.
