Tension erupted in Danshoshiya village, located in the Kwanar Dangora area of Kano State, as two suspected kidnappers met a tragic end after being lynched by angry residents during a failed abduction.

The incident was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Kano State Police Command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, during a press briefing held at the Bompai police headquarters on Thursday, November 14, 2024.

According to SP Kiyawa, the suspects, identified as Haruna Abdulsalam and Mandi Snu, were apprehended by a combined team of police operatives and local vigilantes while attempting to kidnap a 35-year-old man, Haruna Abubakar, from the village.

However, events quickly escalated as irate community members took matters into their own hands. Despite efforts by the authorities, the suspects were beaten severely by the crowd before being rushed to a hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.

“On November 9, 2024, at about 6:00 PM, police operatives in collaboration with vigilante members from Danshoshiya village arrested two suspected kidnappers while they attempted to abduct Haruna Abubakar, aged 35, from the same village,” SP Kiyawa stated. “Unfortunately, aggrieved residents took over the situation, lynching the suspects, who succumbed to their injuries despite receiving medical attention.”

The Kano State Police Command has urged the public to refrain from taking the law into their hands, emphasizing the importance of allowing justice to prevail through proper legal processes.
