Prominent Biafra separatist agitator Simon Ekpa, along with four others, has been arrested in Finland on suspicion of involvement in terrorism-related activities, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.

According to Finnish broadcaster Yle, Ekpa was detained by the Päijät-Häme District Court on charges of public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist intent. The Finnish Central Criminal Police confirmed the arrests, revealing that the additional suspects were apprehended for allegedly supporting terrorist activities financially.

In a statement, the police explained, "The detention demands are part of a preliminary investigation concerning a Finnish citizen of Nigerian descent, born in the 1980s, who is suspected of public incitement to commit crimes with terrorist motives."

Ekpa, based in Finland, is accused of orchestrating violent activities in Nigeria's South-East region, targeting civilians and authorities through his social media platforms. Detective Chief Inspector Otto Hiltunen, leading the investigation, stated, “The individual has conducted these actions primarily through his social media channels.”

The Finnish National Bureau of Investigation added that two of the suspects, residing in Helsinki, are also facing charges for financing terrorism, emphasizing the broader implications of the case.
