In a move to bring relief to Nigerians ahead of the festive season, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a reduction in the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) to N899.50 per litre.
The announcement, made on Thursday, highlights the refinery’s commitment to easing the burden of transportation costs during the holiday period. This comes just weeks after a previous price cut to N970 per litre on November 24.
“Africa’s first privately-owned oil refinery has further reduced the price of PMS to provide much-needed relief for Nigerians during the festive season,” said Anthony Chiejina, Group Chief Branding and Communications Officer, in a statement.
In addition to the price reduction, Dangote Petroleum Refinery introduced an innovative offer designed to benefit consumers. For every litre of petrol purchased with cash, buyers can receive an additional litre on credit, supported by a bank guarantee from Access Bank, First Bank, or Zenith Bank.
“To make transportation more affordable during this season, we are offering PMS at N899.50 per litre. Additionally, customers can purchase an extra litre on credit for every litre bought with cash,” Chiejina explained.
The refinery also expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support and reaffirmed its dedication to providing high-quality, environmentally friendly petroleum products. The company emphasized that its operations mark a significant shift for Nigeria, reducing dependency on substandard and blended imported fuels that have previously caused harm to health, machinery, and the environment.
“The Dangote Refinery stands committed to delivering premium petroleum products that are competitively priced and sustainable for both engines and the environment,” Chiejina added.
With a processing capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, the Dangote Refinery is the largest single-train refinery globally. It is equipped to meet Nigeria’s full demand for refined petroleum products, with an excess available for export, solidifying its role as a transformative force in Nigeria’s energy landscape.
