In a dramatic rescue operation, a 63-year-old plumber, Akin Kuboye, was saved from a 120-meter-deep well in the Igando area of Lagos State. The heroic effort was carried out by the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service on Sunday morning.
According to a statement by the agency’s Director, Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, the incident occurred at 9:54 a.m. at 20 Muyibi Adebayo Street, off Agric Road, Egan-Igando. Kuboye reportedly became trapped while working at the rear of a 14-room bungalow.
Upon receiving the distress call, the Ejigbo Rescue crew swiftly responded to the life-threatening situation. “On arrival at the scene, it was discovered that the plumber was trapped in a well located in a premises covering approximately 648 square meters,” Adeseye said.
The skilled rescue team worked tirelessly to bring Kuboye out alive, demonstrating remarkable tenacity during the operation.
Following the successful rescue, Kuboye was handed over to the Lagos State Ambulance Service (LASAMBUS). The medical team stabilized him, addressing the effects of inhaled ammonia gas, before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment.
