The Delta State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old man, identified as Success, for allegedly murdering his father during a heated altercation in the Amukpe community, Sapele Local Government Area of Delta State.
The shocking incident reportedly occurred at the family’s residence a few days ago. According to eyewitness accounts, the dispute began when Success demanded N5,000 from his father, who declined the request.
Neighbours revealed that Success, known in the community for his history of substance abuse and erratic behavior, did not react well to his father’s refusal.
“Everyone in this area knows Success as a drug addict who often acts irrationally under the influence,” a neighbor, who requested anonymity, told reporters.
On the fateful evening, an argument between Success and his father escalated into a violent confrontation. In a fit of rage, Success reportedly grabbed a cutlass and attacked his father, inflicting severe injuries.
Despite efforts to save him, the severely injured father succumbed to his wounds after being rushed to the hospital.
Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for Delta State Command, SP Bright Edafe, stated, “Success has already been taken into custody.”
