The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested seven individuals suspected of engaging in internet fraud in Benin City, Edo State.
In a statement released yesterday in Abuja, EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the arrests, which were based on credible intelligence about the suspects’ alleged involvement in cybercrime activities.
“During the operation, items seized included a Lexus car, several laptops, and mobile phones,” Oyewale stated. He added that the suspects are currently under investigation and will face prosecution once the process is complete.
The EFCC reiterated its commitment to combating cybercrime and urged the public to report suspicious activities to support the fight against financial crimes.
