Gospel singer Timileyin Ajayi, accused of murdering Nigerian corps member Salome Adaidu, has pleaded not guilty to the charge during his arraignment at the High Court of Justice in Lafia, Nasarawa State.
Ajayi, 32, is facing a one-count charge of culpable homicide, an offense punishable by death under Section 221 of the Penal Code of Northern Nigeria. He appeared before Justice Simon Aboki on Monday to answer the allegations.
The case revolves around the death of 24-year-old Salome Adaidu, a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member who had worked at Nicon Insurance in Abuja before her untimely demise. Reports indicate that Salome was killed during a visit to Ajayi’s residence in the Papalana area of New Karshi, located in the Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.
Ajayi’s not-guilty plea has set the stage for a legal battle, as the court seeks to unravel the circumstances surrounding Salome’s tragic death.
