According to the Manchester Evening News, members of Rúben Amorim’s backroom staff have been critical of Højlund’s recent displays, particularly after his ineffective outing in the 1-0 defeat to Tottenham earlier this month. Despite their concerns, the coaching team remains committed to helping him regain his confidence in training.
The 21-year-old’s last goal came on December 12 in a 2-1 Europa League victory over Viktoria Plzen. Since then, he has struggled to break his scoring drought, even as the club continues to back him.
With Ipswich Town set to visit Old Trafford on Wednesday, Højlund faces mounting pressure to rediscover his form and silence the growing doubts. A failure to do so could add to United’s woes, as they sit just 13 points above the relegation zone with 12 games remaining—a scenario few would have imagined at the start of the season.
