As a measure of adding value to life and in reality to the global developments and technological improvement, Obafemi Owode Local Government has collaborated with the Guarantee Trust Holding Company(GTCO) and Smart Energy Gas Company in distributing free 3kg cylinders to over 3000 vulnerable women residing in the council area.
The program which was targeted to eliminate the orthodox means of cooking with firewood and Charcoal which posed environmental hazard in the lives of many people was the determination of the facilitator.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman, Obafemi Owode Local Government, Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola, FCPA appreciated the GTCO and Smart Energy Company for partnering with the government in ameliorating the challenges faced by the good people of the local government, particularly women in cooking foods for their families at home.
He further expressed his delight towards spreading the empowerments to villages and other areas across 12 wards in the council area. While he mentioned that the distribution is not just a cylinder alone but already filled with Gas which make it more interesting for the beneficiaries to get adjusted to use of the modem means of cooking at their various locations.
In his words, Amb. Ogunsola commended His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON for making Obafemi Owode Local Government the first among sisters local governments in the state to benefitt from the initiative, as he assured people of enormous dividends of democracy across the council area.
Earlier, Mrs. Oyinade Adegbite, representing GTCO encouraged the beneficiaries to adhere to the instructions on ways to use the Gas Cylinder giving to them, as it's durable, safe time compared to their old ways of cooking with firewoods and burning charcoals. While she explained that the second phase of the exercise is certain,she used the occasion to appreciate the Executive Chairman for his moral and financial supports which shows his immense interest in his people
Mr.Temitayo Odeyinka, Director Admin and Supply, OGEPA representing Hon. Akintunde Faruq, Special Adviser, OGEPA, Ogun State thanked His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON for given the approval, as Obafemi Owode Local Government is the first local government to benefit from the program.
He therefore enjoined the residents to make good use of the opportunity, as they keep supporting the government at all levels in the state.
His Royal Highness, Oba Kolawole Aremu Sowemimo, Olu of Owode equally thanked the Governor for his approval and making his local government a first point of call in sharing the first phase of the exercise in the state.
Similarly, Alhaja Ganiyat Ogunleye, Iyaloja General, Obafemi Owode Local Government expressed her gratitude to the council boss for allowing the program, as the empowerment is first of its kind in the history of Obafemi Owode Local Government.
While she prayed for continuous grand slide achievements during the tenure of Amb. Adesina 'Lanre Ogunsola Administration in the council area.
