The Kogi State Police Command has apprehended two suspected armed robbers along the Harbour Bay-Egume Road during a routine patrol.
The command’s spokesperson, SP William Aya, confirmed the arrest in a statement on Friday, February 7, 2025.
According to Aya, the suspects, identified as Mohammed Chelim and Oneh Mohammed, both from Olubojo, were stopped while riding a motorcycle after displaying suspicious behavior.
“Officers conducting patrols, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on enforcing Third-Party Insurance across the country, intercepted the two men,” the statement read.
“Upon questioning, they failed to provide a clear explanation for their movements. A subsequent search led to the discovery of a locally made pistol in their possession.”
The Commissioner of Police, CP Miller Dantawaye, commended the officers for their alertness and professionalism in securing the state.
Reaffirming the police’s commitment to fighting crime, Dantawaye assured residents that security agencies would continue working together to keep Kogi safe.
He further urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible information that could help in tackling criminal activities.
