Police Detain Officer Over Accidental Shooting of Immigration Personnel in Minna-OXYGIST

The Niger State Police Command has detained a police officer who accidentally shot an immigration personnel while attempting to disperse hoodlums in Minna.


The victim, Assistant Superintendent of Immigration (ASI) Christiana Oladimeji, sustained a gunshot wound during an operation on February 21, 2025, when a police patrol team was attacked while recovering suspected stolen items.


In a bid to support the injured officer, the Niger State Commissioner of Police, Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, presented a ₦1 million cash donation to her family to assist with medical expenses. He confirmed that the officer responsible for the shooting, along with his colleagues on duty at the time, is undergoing administrative disciplinary action.


A statement issued on Monday, February 24, by the command’s spokesperson, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Administration), DCP Aminu Garba, visited the injured officer at the Specialist Hospital, Minna, on behalf of the Commissioner.


During the visit, the CP inquired about her condition and assured the family that the Niger State Government has provided financial support to ensure her speedy recovery.
