Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has raised concerns after authorities sealed off his uncompleted building and hotel over alleged illegal development.
In a now-deleted Instagram post on Thursday, Portable shared an official letter stating that the action was taken due to a lack of an approval permit.
The 30-year-old singer claimed that over 20 people, including artists, customers, and individuals seeking assistance from him, were arrested during the operation. He also alleged that cars, motorcycles, and mobile phones were confiscated.
Expressing his frustration, Portable questioned why his property was being targeted despite his contributions to the community. He emphasized that his venue was not just a bar but also a space for event bookings and talent promotion.
“I believe in Eledumare, nobody can bring me down,” he wrote.
“They arrested over 20 people, took cars, bikes, and phones. They sealed my uncompleted building and hotel. Why? I have been helping the government—installing streetlights and even calling them to repair roads—yet they are shutting down my property.”
This is not the first time Portable has had issues with the authorities.
In August 2024, the singer personally hired a tractor to fix bad roads in Sango-Ota after criticizing Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun when his Range Rover got stuck in a ditch.
Following his outburst, Portable claimed he was compensated with N2 million and assured that road repairs would commence. He later visited the Atan-Lusada-Agbara road project and commended the government’s efforts.
