Why Samuel Chukwueze’s Transfer to Fulham Collapsed at the Last Minute-OXYGIST

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze was on the verge of a deadline-day move to Fulham, but the deal ultimately fell through due to time constraints.

Chukwueze’s future at AC Milan has been the subject of much speculation in recent months, as the Nigerian international has struggled to make a significant impact since joining the Italian giants from Villarreal two years ago. Despite making 58 appearances for the Rossoneri, his tally of seven goals and four assists falls short of expectations.

Last December, the 24-year-old was briefly linked with a move to Arsenal as a potential replacement for Bukayo Saka, who suffered a hamstring injury. However, fate took a different turn when Chukwueze himself picked up a similar injury, putting an end to the transfer rumors.

After returning to action last week, Chukwueze made an immediate impact by scoring the decisive goal in AC Milan’s 3-2 victory over Parma. His performance seemed poised to strengthen his position in coach Sergio Conceição’s plans.

However, on transfer deadline day, renowned football journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed that Fulham had approached AC Milan for a possible deal. The Premier League club proposed a loan move with an option to buy, but negotiations stalled due to lack of time to finalize the agreement.

According to reports from AC Milan TMN, all parties were interested in making the deal happen, but the limited time frame made it impossible to work out the details before the transfer window closed.

For now, Chukwueze remains with AC Milan, at least until the end of the season. If he delivers strong performances in the coming months, Fulham—or another interested club—could make another move for him in the next transfer window.
