The troops of 35 Artillery Brigade in a bid to ensure that Ogun is free of drugs and drug dealers, have foiled an attempt to smuggle 206.5 kilograms of substance suspected to be cannabis sativa into Ogun State.
The troops who were deployed along road Balogun in Yewa North LGA of the State intercepted the consignment of illegal substance suspected to be cannabis sativa at a cross point along Shuwan Igbogila general area on 5th March 2025. The drug syndicate on sighting the troops abandoned their vehicle and ran into the nearby bushes.
The interception is in line with the Brigade's resolve to eradicate trans - border drugs and contraband movement into the country through the porous borders by high profile drug syndicate and smugglers.
The recovered cannabis sativa have been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, Ogun State Command.
The Commander 35 Artillery Brigade, Brigadier General Godwin Nwamba has commended the troops for their effort and charged them to always be vigilant on the roads in order to frustrate the smuggling of hard drugs into the country through the porous borders.
