Despite the official declaration of Eid-el-Fitr by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar the Egba Eid Praying Ground in Abeokuta did not observe the congregational prayer, leaving many worshippers surprised and disappointed.
The Sultan, serves as the spiritual leader of Nigerian Muslims, had announced the sighting of the moon on Saturday, signifying the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Eid-el-Fitr to commence on Sunday.
However, Muslim faithful who trooped to the Egba Eid Praying Ground expecting to join in the prayers found the venue inactive, raising concerns and speculation over the reason behind the development.
Efforts to reach the authorities responsible for organizing the prayer session at the Egba Eid Praying Ground for clarification were unsuccessful as of the time of this report.
