In a dramatic turn of events, social media critic VeryDarkMan has secured a legal victory as a Federal High Court blocked his arrest in the ongoing defamation case involving gospel singer Mercy Chinwo and her former manager, Eezee Tee.
The controversy began when the Chief Magistrate Court in Wuse Zone 6, Abuja, issued a bench warrant for VeryDarkMan’s arrest on March 13, 2025. The warrant was granted after he allegedly failed to appear in court in response to criminal defamation charges filed by Chinwo.
However, in a recent Instagram update, VeryDarkMan announced that the Federal High Court had issued an order overriding the magistrate’s court decision and restraining law enforcement from executing the arrest.
According to him, the court order prohibits the Inspector General of Police and other law enforcement officers from taking action against him until the motion is fully heard and determined.
Despite the legal battle, VeryDarkMan expressed confidence in the judicial system. While acknowledging the presence of corruption, he maintained that the courts could still uphold fairness.
He also alleged that certain influential individuals were attempting to damage his reputation by falsely claiming he was being paid to attack people online. Regardless of public opinion, he vowed to continue speaking out against oppression and injustice.
