The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man, Muniru Haruna, for allegedly defiling his neighbor’s three-year-old daughter in the Orile-Ilugun area of the state.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, the suspect lured the minor into his room while she was playing outside.
The child’s mother, Alaba Abdullahi (20), raised the alarm after hearing her daughter crying. Upon rushing to check, she found the child walking unsteadily while exiting the suspect’s room, displaying signs of distress.
"On March 1, 2025, at about 11:00 AM, we received a distress call from Alaba Abdullahi regarding her three-year-old daughter. She reported that Muniru Haruna, a man residing in the same neighborhood, allegedly committed the act while the child was playing nearby," Odutola stated.
Further medical examination at General Hospital, Odeda, confirmed signs of physical trauma. The police are currently awaiting the doctor’s report for further investigation.
While the suspect has denied the allegations, the case has been transferred to the Division Crime Branch and will soon be moved to the State CID Eleweran for a more in-depth inquiry.
